Bringing Smart Chess to Sweden's Biggest Gathering

Location: Stockholm, Sweden

If you want to understand how smart chess technology resonates with players of all ages, ChessParty Stockholm was the perfect place to find out. As one of Sweden's largest chess events, it brought together thousands of visitors — from young schoolchildren experiencing chess for the first time to experienced club players looking for their next challenge.
Friday was schools day and by far the busiest. Thousands of children came through the venue, and the Chessnut booth had a constant crowd of 15 or more people. Saturday was calmer, with around 1,000 players in the main event, but engagement remained steady throughout.

Chessnut supported the event with an interactive booth, hands on product demonstrations, giveaways, and content collaborations with local creators.

The Crowd

When doors opened on Friday, the Chessnut booth quickly became active. Children and teenagers tried out the boards. They played against the AI, solved puzzles, and challenged each other on the Pro board with chess clocks.

By Saturday, players between rounds, along with parents and spectators, continued to visit. The energy never dipped.

The Board

The Chessnut Move drew the most attention. Many visitors stopped to watch the self moving pieces in action.

Visitors asked real questions too. How does AI powered analysis work? How does connected play work? The booth wasn’t just a display. It was a place to learn.

The Games

Nikola (IM) was at the board, playing games with anyone who wanted a match. No announcement. No schedule. Just an International Master sitting down and playing.

The Team Behind the Scenes

Cedric worked behind the scenes. He handled logistics, made sure every board was charged and ready, and kept everything running.

As a Chessnut Community Advisor, I focused on connecting with attendees, engaging with local creators, and managing the giveaway campaigns.

The Giveaways

Throughout the event, Chessnut boards were given away to winners. The final giveaway on Saturday was selected by the Chief Arbiter herself.

Final Thoughts

Thank you to the ChessParty Stockholm organisers for hosting us.
To Nikola – for sitting down at the board and playing anyone who asked.
To Cedric – for handling logistics, setup, and breakdown.
By the end of the weekend, the Chessnut booth wasn’t just a place to see smart boards. It was where players gathered to play, ask questions, and share their love of chess.

Chessnut is proud to support chess communities around the world.
