Chessnut Air Electronic Chess Set (Travel Size)

We bought the Chessnut Air for our 7-year-old son who plays competitive chess, and he has been practising with it daily at home. We especially like the different game levels available on the board. We find the level of play quite challenging, even tougher than what he usually experiences on Lichess, which makes it very good for his daily training. Playing on a real chessboard also gives him a much better practice experience compared to always playing on a screen. Very happy with our purchase and definitely a useful training tool for a young chess player.

Everything is great, just add clocks somewhere in the corners of the board to show time from apps.

This chessboard largely meets my expectations. It is well-made and responds immediately to moves. The Chessnut app was less impressive, as it does not work directly with Lichess. Its function as a chess computer is fine. Unfortunately, integration with Lichess is cumbersome, relying on experimental plugins for Chrome-compatible browsers; it would be great if Chessnut could improve this.

The board is good. Feels good. Looks nice. Been using it for some time now. No glitches found.
But the LEDs are not bright enough for outside. Even when you are not in direct sunlight, I cannot see them. Maybe because the LEDs are green or maybe because they are not bright enough. Consider this before buying.
In the picture d3 and d4 should be lit (evaluation mode). You can barely see d3 and d4 is not visible at all. I’ve even created some shade on those squares.

So much more worth the purchase than I had thought. Moving pieces that feel like a high-quality plastic is miles better than clicking/tapping a 2d board. Sides and bottom of the board are all one solid piece of wood, so the overall quality of the board feels great especially for the price.
